1. Night in wilderness
A snowmobile safari to the log house in the wilderness starts from Rovaniemi in the midday. The route take
us through the woods, across some bare swamps and frozen lakes. On the way we stop to make a campfire
and prepare light lunch, brew coffee and try snowshoeing. In the afternoon, we arrive at the log house and
settle in. As there is no electricity, we heat up the cabin by wood. We also prepare the sauna for the evening;
get the water from the river and heat it really hot! If we have time, we can try ice-fishing and catch some extra
for the dinner. Dinner and the whole day outdoor is fun but tiring so we sleep well like babies in the sleeping
bags. The next morning after breakfast, it is time to pack things onto the snowmobiles, start the engines and
drive back.

2. Overnight Safari to the Snow Hotel
This safari is made for those who wish to experience something special. We jump on the snowmobiles and start our journey by driving on the frozen river and through the snowy forests and over the mighty rivers, lakes and frozen swamps until we reach extra ordinary Arctic SnowHotel. This is an unusual place; the hotel and restaurant entirely made of snow and ice. Sleeping in such hotel is probably a onetime life experience! The hosts will make your stay the best possible and you can even add, as an option, more excitement to the adventure by experiencing the ice sauna and hot-pool under the Northern Lights. At the hotel we have a guided tour and three course dinner in an authentic wooden tee-pee. In the morning our host wakes us up with a hot berry juice. After the magical night and a tasty breakfast, you head back on snowmobiles to Rovaniemi, feeling totally relaxed. Notice that your snowmobile guide will not stay overnight at the hotel.

3. Three-day Safari

We also heat the sauna for the evening, the braves ones may even roll in the powder snow! The guide prepares us a traditional and tasty dinner before the going to sleep. In the morning, it is time to wake up to the aroma of fresh coffee, have breakfast and begin another day’s adventure. Our destination is a small holiday resort on side of the big fell where we spend our second night and have a pleasant evening enjoying local delicacies in a really nice Lappish
restaurant. On the last day’s morning we head back to the Rovaniemi and have lunch on the way.

4. Snow adventures by snowmobiles
Snowy snowmobile safari heads to the Korouoma Canyon in Eastern Lapland and gives you the experience of the real wilderness. Due to its demanding features, participating for this safari requires a good physical condition and durability. The safari starts from the Rovaniemi airport, so it is advised to take the morning flight and start the adventure as you land! The route takes us through the wintry forests and over frozen lakes. The route might be untouched, so we may have to open the track through the soft snow. In the late afternoon we arrive to our cottage and settle in. We warm the cottage up with the fireplace for the night. We also prepare the sauna for the evening. After the relaxing sauna, you are served a traditional dinner at the cottage. The next day we drive to the Korouoma Canyon and see the Canyon in all its beauty. During journey we are able to do short hikes in woods observing nature. The second night will also be spent in the cottage with nice atmosphere and mighty dinner. During the last day, we drive back to Rovaniemi. During our journey, we stop to have a bite to eat in cafés of villages and at the campfires along the route.

At first we pack the personal things in back bags and change into thermal outfit. Safari begins first by getting familiar with the snowmobiles, we leave the Rovaniemi city lights behind and head to the wilderness. The first destination is a Lappish small town, the second is a small Lappish village basically in middle of nowhere and third night is in even smaller place than previous! During safari we cross many lakes and rivers; follows old lumber jacks roads and paths by snowmobiles. Part of region is highland wilderness which is one of snowiest area in Finland.
It is almost guaranteed that we don’t see any other people while riding the snowmobiles. Some parts might be deep snow driving, so this safari needs normal or good physical condition and good sense of balance. Former experience with snowmobile or motorbike is an advantage but not obligatory. During days we stop to have lunches by open fire in snowy forest. We accommodate nights in cosy hotels or cottages. Naturally in evenings there are saunas and dinners for us. Before we get back to Rovaniemi, we stop at the Arctic Circle, Santa’s Village. In Santa’s Village you’ll meet Santa Claus himself and get photo for memory.

At first we drive through the woods and see how the scenery becomes vaster the further north we go. During our five-day trip, we see the biggest fells in Finland, mighty lakes, huge open sceneries so far as the eye can see. We also visit the Three Nations Border monument of Finland, Sweden and Norway. During the days, we stop for lunches both in cafés and at the campfires. This safari offers you an Arctic snowmobile adventure in the regions of Finnish and Norwegian Lapland. We begin our journey from Rovaniemi at the Arctic Circle. The route takes us through the woods of Southern Lapland, to the fells of Saariselkä, across the huge and magnificent Lake Inari up to the fells of Norway, all the way to the shores of the Arctic Ocean. After the visit to the Arctic Ocean, we return to Ivalo where our journey will end. During the days, we stop to have a bite to eat in village cafés and at campfires along the route. This safari takes us to the utter wilderness in the vicinity of the Russia. We see magnificent sceneries as we follow the old lumber Jack’s winter and forest roads in the wilds. Some days we drive so remote region that whole day can be without seeing any other people. We stop in small villages to refill snowmobiles gasoline tanks and have meals in local restaurants and cafés. Sometimes we just stop to rest in forest shelters and fireplaces to prepare snack and coffee on open fire. experience unique experiences like accommodation in log houses, heating sauna in a traditional way, and finally relaxing in the warmth of sauna after a whole day’s driving.

GENERAL INFORMATION OF OVERNIGHT SNOWMOBILE SAFARIS
Demanding levels:
Safari has demanding levels in scale 1-3. Scale can change by influence of weather conditions. The demanding levels are: 1. Normal, 2. Demanding and 3. Extreme. Driving distances are between 70 and 200 km/day and the length of excursion also depends of the driving skills and the weather conditions.
During the easier safaris, we use the main- and connecting trails (official snowmobile trails) between villages and centres. These trails are more used and sometimes fixed trails. Normally safaris are priced so there drives 1 person/snowmobile.
More demanding safaris are more extreme things and there need normal good physical condition, but not necessary former experience with snowmobiles. For example on those trails there is more change to try drive in deep snow, just because, we are perhaps first group on trail in that winter. Trails are sometimes like narrow paths through forest but anyway official snowmobile trails.
In longest safaris there are one or couple overnights in hotels or good quality cottages with showers and saunas. Naturally we can arrange overnight experience in heated tent or in simple wilderness shelter with open fireplace or traditional lumberjack’s log fire.
Safaris 1-3 are also suitable for children over 140 cm as they also travel on the snowmobiles and they must be strong enough to hold. The other safaris are not recommended to children nor pregnant ladies.
Our guides are trained and get needed experiences and knowledge of local winter conditions and they have demanded skills for give first aid help. We secure safaris with modern technology like mobile phones and GPS devices, but still mostly trust for real paper map. We use modern & environment friendly four-stroke snowmobiles with double seats and space for personal things.
Pricing:
Safaris 1-3 are priced for driving 2 person/snowmobile, because it follows main trails and isn’t so demanding. Nevertheless we highly recommend the single use of the vehicles as it makes the safari more enjoyable.
Prices include transportation from the hotel and back, program, guide services, snowmobiles, fuels, driving gears (thermal suit, boots, gloves, helmet and balaclava) insurance for the snowmobile and other needed equipment according to the programs.
Prices include value added taxes (VAT).
As the responsible organizer of all treks, Lucky Travel reserves the right to possible price changes, duration and ways of transportation without prior notification. This also applies to cases in which the weather conditions are disadvantageous.
Instructions for the participants:
Before safari start our customers get needed gears for snowmobiling, briefing for safari plan and destinations, security things and handle snowmobiles. Luggages and other equipment which you do not need during the safari you can leave to Safari office.
During safaris clients carry their personal things and extra clothes onto snowmobiles burden rack in back bags. Sometimes, depend on group size and type of safari our guide pull sledge for the gears. Safari office provides a rucksack (or you can your own) for your personal things. Notice that the rucksacks are carried on the snowmobiles so 40-50 liters rucksack is adequate. Also smaller back bag is handy to carry for small things, like camera, thermos bottle and snacks. Towels, sleeping bags, full winter clothing and helmets are provided by the safari house.
Participants are obligated to inform Lucky Travel about the possible illnesses which might affect to the
participants’ ability i.e. asthma, diabetes or allergies. Also special diets must be informed upon
the booking.

Clothes:
Basic rule: be prepared to you always have one set of dry under and middle layers. Staying dry is the top priority.
Hints how to dress up:
- Dress in layers. Use many thin, warm layers rather than a few thick layers. It will insulate
better and allow you to strip off layers if the temperature climbs.
- Add a first layer consisting of a comfortably light fabric that will remove the sweat away
from your body. Avoid pure cotton, linen, or other similar materials, however,
because these fabrics retain moisture and will chill you. The best material is synthetic fiber.
- Next layer should be a knit sweater/sweatshirt/fleece. This layer is to keep you warm.
- You may wear as many warm layers as needed.
- Thin socks (don’t wear to small sized socks to get no disturbance in blood circulation,
- best material is mixture of 70% wool and 30% synthetic fiber)
- Thick socks (best thing would be to wear 1 thin and 1 or 2 thick pair of socks on top of each other)
- Long drawers, sweat suit or something similar to wear under the overall and in the wilderness hut
- Jogging shoes or sandals to wear in the wilderness huts
- Thin under gloves (best material is fleece)

Safaris 1-3 are also suitable for children over 140 cm as they also travel on the snowmobiles and they must be strong enough to hold. The other safaris are not recommended to children nor pregnant ladies.
Our guides are trained and get needed experiences and knowledge of local winter conditions and they have demanded skills for give first aid help. We secure safaris with modern technology like mobile phones and GPS devices, but still mostly trust for real paper map. We use modern & environment friendly four-stroke snowmobiles with double seats and space for personal things.
Pricing:
Safaris 1-3 are priced for driving 2 person/snowmobile, because it follows main trails and isn’t so demanding. Nevertheless we highly recommend the single use of the vehicles as it makes the safari more enjoyable.
Prices include transportation from the hotel and back, program, guide services, snowmobiles, fuels, driving gears (thermal suit, boots, gloves, helmet and balaclava) insurance for the snowmobile and other needed equipment according to the programs.
Prices include value added taxes (VAT).
As the responsible organizer of all treks, Lucky Travel reserves the right to possible price changes, duration and ways of transportation without prior notification. This also applies to cases in which the weather conditions are disadvantageous.
Instructions for the participants:
Before safari start our customers get needed gears for snowmobiling, briefing for safari plan and destinations, security things and handle snowmobiles. Luggages and other equipment which you do not need during the safari you can leave to Safari office.
During safaris clients carry their personal things and extra clothes onto snowmobiles burden rack in back bags. Sometimes, depend on group size and type of safari our guide pull sledge for the gears. Safari office provides a rucksack (or you can your own) for your personal things. Notice that the rucksacks are carried on the snowmobiles so 40-50 liters rucksack is adequate. Also smaller back bag is handy to carry for small things, like camera, thermos bottle and snacks. Towels, sleeping bags, full winter clothing and helmets are provided by the safari house.
Participants are obligated to inform Lucky Travel about the possible illnesses which might affect to the
participants’ ability i.e. asthma, diabetes or allergies. Also special diets must be informed upon
the booking.

Clothes:
Basic rule: be prepared to you always have one set of dry under and middle layers. Staying dry is the top priority.
Hints how to dress up:
- Dress in layers. Use many thin, warm layers rather than a few thick layers. It will insulate
better and allow you to strip off layers if the temperature climbs.
- Add a first layer consisting of a comfortably light fabric that will remove the sweat away
from your body. Avoid pure cotton, linen, or other similar materials, however,
because these fabrics retain moisture and will chill you. The best material is synthetic fiber.
- Next layer should be a knit sweater/sweatshirt/fleece. This layer is to keep you warm.
- You may wear as many warm layers as needed.
- Thin socks (don’t wear to small sized socks to get no disturbance in blood circulation,
- best material is mixture of 70% wool and 30% synthetic fiber)
- Thick socks (best thing would be to wear 1 thin and 1 or 2 thick pair of socks on top of each other)
- Long drawers, sweat suit or something similar to wear under the overall and in the wilderness hut
- Jogging shoes or sandals to wear in the wilderness huts
- Thin under gloves (best material is fleece)
Other:
- Personal hygiene articles and medicine (soap, shampoo etc)
- Small back bag
- Sunglasses in springtime
- Sun lotion in the spring
- Camera and batteries (keep these close to your body to keep batteries warm)
